Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Administrative Coordinator (AC) or Nursing Supervisor is a member of the Nursing Leadership Council in the Department of Nursing.  The AC promotes the vision statement of the hospital.  The AC promotes the standard of care as stated in the Nursing and Hospital objectives through the coordination of staffing and patient care.  The AC provides clinical supervision by being a resource and promoting positive working relationships, in the absence of the Directors and Managers.

Skills & Abilities:  Ability to: a) adapt hours of availability to variable and changing needs of the hospital, including all shifts; b) execute the authority and responsibility entailed in the management of hospital and nursing staff in the absence of the Director; c) provide effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, interacting the nursing personnel, medical staff members, administrative staff, department directors, patients and their families/significant others, maintaining strong organizational and prioritization abilities; d) maintain Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS); e) operates and troubleshoots office equipment such as computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, and/or calculator; g) maintains confidentiality.

Qualifications

Education & Training: Associate’s degree from an accredited program is required; Bachelor’s Degree is preferred. Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland. BCLS certification required.  Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or coronary care course preferred.

 Work Orientation & Experience: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an acute care facility is required. One (1) year experience in a leadership role is preferred.  Proven clinical competence in specific RN performance standards.  Understanding of standards of care and practice for all age groups.
