Position Description
PURPOSE: The Lead Psychiatric APRN, will provide oversight and supervision to the CODAC Mental Health Program. This individual would serve as the expert consultant to CODAC’s Medical Director, Psychiatric Prescribers and Mental Health Coordinators for any recommendations and/or interventions in the psychiatric care of our patients. In addition, CODAC is contracted to provide Federal Probation referrals an initial psychiatric evaluation which must administered by a Licensed Psychiatric practitioner. This person in this will provide these evaluations and be available to treat CODAC patients who require stabilization prior to transfer to other CODAC mental health providers.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Participate in the development of policy and programing, in conjunction with the Program Leadership
· Co-Facilitate general outpatient multidisciplinary team meeting.
· Provide regular supervision to midlevel staff
· Required member of Standards Committee and lead in policy development for general outpatient services
· Maintain a caseload, including patients referred by Federal Contract
· Complete initial assessment on patients determining diagnosis and develop a plan of care including medication prescription if indicated
· Prescribe and monitor medications to assess treatment effectiveness, per CODAC Policy
· Adhere to documentation standards set forth by regulatory licensing agents, including but not limited to treatment plans, session notes and laboratory review.
· Comply with Federal Confidentiality Law to protect rights of the consumer.
· Attend meetings as required
· Available for On-Call Responsibility
· Participate in Performance Improvement activities
· Perform other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Possess a valid and unlimited license to practice medicine in the State of Rhode Island.
· Possess a valid, unrestricted DEA Registration.
· Demonstrate that the APRN has the skill, training and demonstrated competence and judgment to enhance and ensure the provision of the highest quality services.
· Not be bound by any agreement or arrangement which would preclude the APRN from entering, or fully performing, the services required under this Agreement.
· Possess a valid DEA-X Waiver authorizing the outpatient prescribing of buprenorphine
· Experience in Addiction Medicine preferred
