NANNNA 10th President

The National Association of Nigerian Nurses in North America (NANNNA) proudly announces its 10th President Dr. Margaret Okodua-Ajibola (PhDc, DNP, APN, RN, NP-C, FNP-BC). Dr. Okodua-Ajibola was recently elected as the President of NANNNA at the November 2018 Scientific Conference which was held at the Marriot Hotel in New York.  

Dr. Okodua-Ajibola, who coincidentally is also President of the Nigerian-Illinois Nurses Association (NINA) holds a Doctorate degree of Nursing Practice from Governor’s State University, Illinois, USA. Dr. Okodua-Ajibola is in addition, currently a PhD candidate (Public health epidemiology). She obtained a Master of Science degree in Nursing from North-Park University in Chicago, IL USA, Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Chicago State University, Chicago, IL, USA, and Associate in Applied Science degree in Computer Science from Harry S. Truman College in Chicago, IL USA. 

Dr. Okodua-Ajibola is a Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), and Professional Registered Nurse (RN). She is also a Certified Nurse Practitioner (NP-C), and a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-BC). She attended Agba Grammar school (pioneer set), Uromi and Saint Gregory Primary School, Eguare, Ogwa, both in Edo State, Nigeria.

Dr. Okodua-Ajibola currently works as a Public Health Nurse with the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH): Communicable Disease Program at Westside Centers for Disease Control in Chicago. Also, she has served at CDPH as Public Health Field Nurse (Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes (APORS) and Case Management, clinic nurse at CDPH Community Health (Pediatric, Family Planning, Obstetrics, and Adult Medicine). She previously served as a Professional Registered Nurse in various capacities including Acute Care Hospitals, Long-Term Care Facilities (Geriatrics), Home Health (Pediatrics and Geriatrics), and Hospice (end-of-life).

Dr. Okodua-Ajibola served as Nurse Practitioner at the State of Illinois Department of Corrections (Adult Inmates-General Medicine). She is also an Educator who demonstrates special interest in mentoring both undergraduate and graduate Nursing Students.

Dr. Okodua-Ajibola’s has previously served as NANNNA Membership Chair, National Medical Mission Coordinator, and Financial Secretary (short-term). Her passion and priority as NANNNA President is to uphold NANNNA’s Vision and Mission, as well as promote NANNNA’s strategic goals. Dr. Okodua-Ajibola also seeks to vigorously drive the core values of empowerment, excellence, compassion, integrity, dedication, diversity, and respect during her tenure.  She will be using the privilege of the Office of NANNNA’s President to collaborate with other Health Organizations, Professionals, and Institutions within and outside Nigeria and USA to maximize NANNNA’s impact in global health.
